About the symbol mark
In considering the logo mark, we thought it would be best if both the people in the shopping district and the customers feel that this “100-year shopping district brand building project” is something that is relevant to them. This historic shopping street, which used to be the castle town of Kubota Castle, has survived only because of the shopkeepers who maintain their attractive stores and the customers who visit them every day. The design of a logo mark must be able to convey a simple message with a minimum of necessary elements. We therefore decided to use the four words “Dori-machi 100 years” in the design, but something was missing. We decided to use “Dori-machi” and “100 years” in the logo mark by adding a single character “and” as a word that would allow the store owners, who have a long history with Dori-machi, and customers, who have a long history with Dori-machi, to share the meaning of continuing to shape “Dori-machi” and “100 years” together. and 100 years” as a word that shares the same meaning of “Dori-machi” and “100 years. The words “Dori-machi and 100 years” include the meaning of both the past 100 years and the future 100 years. We also suggest adding the English phrase “Torimachi 100 years” to appeal to the increasing number of foreign visitors to the area.
The logo mark conveys the history of “Torimachi” as the most important street in Kubota Castle and its meaning to foreigners as well. The “street” itself is the identity (individuality) of “Dori-machi,” so we have placed “Dori-machi and” vertically in the center of the logo with a familiar illustration and perspective letters. The “100 years” is placed horizontally in a different font to make it easy to recognize at a glance. The design was intended to convey the history of “Dori-machi” while avoiding an overly heavy atmosphere.
